not sarcastic. at all.

you won’t believe what happens next

i was part of “the 60s” group, and we performed at show bar on 6.9.24 @ 3pm.

what i played from our 18-song setlist:

the kick triplets in gtbt were challenging! lots of slow practice and moving the gap in each “tri-pl-et” to internalize the feel.

white room was super solid (selected for the preview show), and an especially tight performance from kelly (guitar). cool 5/4 for the intro/reintro.

the bossa clave on the snare in break on through was really fun to learn. great dynamics here.

i also really enjoyed the dynamics in piece, and how distinct each section was. unexpectedly fun to play.

pinball wizard was my first who song (and another awesome performance by kelly). after getting the triplets down and feel for the odd crash timing, the secret was channeling the crazy play-what-the-fuck-i-want attitude of “moon the loon”. very satisfying.

* due to a last-minute drummer dropout, i picked these up about two weeks before our show. good exercise in quick charting/learning!
