About

i’m a dude who moved from socal to pdx for the promise of distinct seasons and to experience the nascent PNW food culture developing in the late aughts. in addition to chilling with my wife and parenting an amazing human tween, i enjoy banging on drums and playing a round (or five, or ten) of pickleball.

Just one more game.

— every pickleball addict

work-wise, i identify as a hacker. in more formal terms i’m a full stack developer with over 27 years of work experience in computing. my roles have included graphic and UX design, IT operations, customer service operations, AWS cloud services and architecture, and technical project management. oh, and lots and lots of development with wordpress core, plugins, and themes.

during my decade-plus tenure helping run a boutique digital marketing agency, i learned a lot about taking care of clients and looking ahead and planning for their future needs. one of the cool things about our small shop was our ability to turn around functional proof-of-concept solutions that could be spun up into real apps and APIs, often within hours after getting off a call.

more recently, for the past few years i was fortunate to be a sponsored core contributor for the wordpress project (which powers 43% of the internet). during that time i learned to deeply appreciate the power and importance of open source, and formed a borderless network of amazing colleagues. in addition to development in core, i helped onboard and mentor other contributors, and was proud to foster improved processes, documentation, and reporting around user and unit testing in the project. i also wrote and reviewed quite a bit for the test and core teams.

while looking for my next work sitch, i’m working on some plugins and trying out parallel coding agents workflows, and have recently moved from continental to eastern grip.
