once again, doug was kind enough to pair up with me for doubles at the sport oregon paddle royale sponsored by alaska airlines, a charity tournament held at my usual haunt, recs. sport oregon provides sports grants and programs for underserved youth and female athletes (check them out). they threw a very well-organized tourney, and had several amazing sponsors for raffle prizes that really spiced things up!
we had lots of fun, met some cool folks, and played pretty well. we were undefeated and came in first place!
no medals were awarded, but the first place prize package was pretty sweet:
among the raffle prizes were tickets to see the thorns or timbers, which is where i divvied up my tickets. luck was with me, and i won the timbers package! check out what was included:
the family is stoked and looking forward to attending a game next year.
before i wrap up, i want to give a shoutout to @letemcookpdx, who provided friggin amazing smash burgers at the event. my wife said that “everything tastes good after a tournament”, but this was honestly one of the best burgers i’ve had in a while. watch their socials for their next event!
